Introducing the Assorted Ravings of Mark William Darbyshire – markdarb for short.
One might wonder why one should much care what the aforementioned person cares to rave about. Well, hopefully I can give you a fair idea.
This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve tried to keep a blog. In fact it would be the third time I’ve tried to keep a blog on this very domain. My last blog expired along with my hosting plan with Dot5Hosting, which I felt was hardly worth renewing. I could try to import content from my old blogs, but for the most part I think I’d rather start from scratch.
So what can you expect here? Well, if my past blogs have been anything to go by I’ll give you the latest of my songs and prose, along with smatterings of political opinion and Bible-related thoughts and some dabblings in science. Add to that a reading log, for I’ve recently picked up the habit of doing lots of reading, along with a desire to share what I’ve found particularly insightful with the rest of the world. I’d also like to offer my opinions and experiences in the tech world, particularly in the realm of free and open source software. I’ve been learning French for quite a few years, and starting in 2010 I’ll be adding German and Spanish to the list; so, coupling that with my interest in linguistics and the history of English, you can certainly expect some language-related posts to pop up from time to time.
Well hopefully that was enough to whet your appetite. More likely it was enough to scare you away for good, although the fact that you’re reading this penultimate paragraph is a good sign.
Here’s hoping we’ll embark on many blogospherical adventures together!
